Energy transition

In order to achieve climate protection targets, our society faces no less a challenge than the decarbonisation of the electricity, heating, transport and industrial sectors and thus the sustainable transformation of our energy system. The pillars of this energy transition are renewable energies, in particular photovoltaics and wind. However, as these are not available uniformly and to the same extent everywhere, storage media are needed to ensure the temporal and spatial connection between energy supply and utilisation. One of these media is hydrogen. As a versatile energy carrier, it can be used in all sectors and therefore plays a key role in the energy transition.

Cooperation between science and business

Innovations are the engine for economic value creation. On the one hand, they are created in companies in order to develop new products, services and business models and thus ensure competitiveness and corporate success. On the other hand, innovations are also created to a particular extent in universities and scientific institutions through a wide range of research and development work.
A particular innovative strength is created when business and science work together in co-operative projects. A number of developments in companies are already supported by collaborations with Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences.

Funding and financing programmes

Innovations are essential for sustainable corporate success. The introduction and implementation of innovations often entail high development or investment costs. This is a decisive factor for small and medium-sized enterprises in particular. To ensure that innovations do not fail due to financing alone, the EU, federal government and federal states offer a wide range of funding programmes and financing options for companies.
